Leslie has been documenting her journey back to fitness after giving birth and has been sharing her story with us for the past 12 weeks. This will be her final update! Let’s see how she has done this far:

Ok, so… This is my last post! My target date (July 31st) is pretty much here and I have tallied up my results. I started this journey (which still isn’t over for me) on May 13th. I have been obsessing over food for two and a half months, going to the gym more often than I ever have in my lifetime, and the results are in! I am officially 16 lbs down as of July 30th 2015! Only 4 lbs shy of my 20 lbs goal, not too shabby if you ask me! I’m going to run off a few things that helped me and continue to help me lose this weight and keep it off.

1.) I gave myself an obtainable goal. Trying to lose 30 lbs in a month is a.) not healthy and b.) unrealistic! For a beginner like me,10 lbs a month is more suitable.

2. Apple cider vinegar. This magic food helped with curbing my appetite and cutting down on bloating and water weight. I made a concoction of apple cider vinegar, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, and honey and these ingredients help speed up your metabolism for nice results, it especially tackles belly fat. Something I’ve picked up in my research!

3.) I wasn’t too hard on myself. I understood that I will have bad days, sometimes a couple, but I tried my best to get back on track when I saw myself fall off. I know the battle with food is never ending, so I didn’t deprive myself, I just ate badly in moderation.

4. Water. No long explanation for this one, water is the answer to a lot of health problems. We need it, so that’s all I allowed myself to have, I preferred to eat my calories and sugar as opposed to drinking them!

5. My exercise routine was never too strenuous. I was never one to enjoy moving around a lot. I mean you sweat, you’re sore the next day and days after, it’s so much more fun to just lay around your couch, so many reasons! But, I told myself if you want results, you’re going to have to put in the work! Does Beyonce just sit around waiting for cool things to happen to her, no, she is a work horse to a fault! So I needed to get up and get my Beyonce on! I figured I could walk for 30-40 minutes, work up a sweat, and keep my hair from sweating out by tying my scarf so tight I thought my head would pop off mid workout! The length of your favorite tv show you can burn off your lunch just by walking. I also lifted weights and did squats, those aren’t so fun but your body will love you for them!

So those are a few things that helped me and continue to help me. I have another goal to lose another 20 after I complete my first 20. I know I can do it, it’s just a matter of hard work, focus, and time. I’m not setting a date I just want to always move in the right direction to being healthy and fit! I hope I helped someone get motivated. I had plenty of excuses (I’m a mother of a “misunderstood” 11 month old, lol, I’m just as tired as the next mom, my boyfriend likes to eat horribly, I love cookies, cakes, cheesesteaks, pizza, just as much as anyone else, I work, and I hate working out) I just didn’t allow myself to use any of those excuses as a means to stay fat and lazy! It’s all on you, so give yourself the option to be great. There’s greatness in all of us!
