Nu Wave Air Fryer – (Almost) Guilt Free Fried Chicken
NU WAVE AIR FRYER RECIPE: (ALMOST) GUILT-FREE FRIED CHICKEN
I must admit: I’m a sucker for kitchen gadgets. So when I recently saw a Facebook post highlighting the Nuwave Air Fryer, I knew that I HAD to have it! You can make comfort foods such as fried chicken and French fries without deep frying them in a pot full of grease? Sold!!
I’ve used it daily since it’s purchase, and I have been impressed with every meal made in it. Salmon cooks to perfection, sweet potato fries.. chiiiiiile! Everything. Well…with the exception of chicken.
I hardly EVER follow recipes when I cook, I pretty much wing it (pun intended). So when I took my overconfident ass into my kitchen to make air-fried chicken for the first time, the finished product was a HUGE blow to my ego. It looked absolutely awful!
Ever since that kitchen fiasco, I’ve made it a life goal to master this damn dish. After working out the initial kinks, I FINALLY feel like I got it! I’m sharing this because nobody should ever experience terrible chicken.. Mell did that, so hopefully you won’t have to go thru that! (Jay-Z voice)
The ingredients shown above are what I used in my chicken. 1/2 cup of flour is plenty for 2 chicken breasts.
*Low carb folks: there are plenty of substitutes for flour, be creative!*
I seasoned my chicken with pink salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
In a bowl, I whisked one egg and some srirachia sauce together. I placed the chicken in the egg mixture, covered the bowl and let it marinate for about an hour in the fridge.
While the chicken is marinating, I put 1/2 cup of flour, pink sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper in a plastic ziplock bag. I shook the bag, and poured the contents on to a plate.
I lightly dredged the chicken in the flour mix on both sides. I shook off all excess flour, and disposed of the remaining flour. I returned the floured chicken to the plate.
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP, DO NOT SKIP!
Pour a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil on to the chicken. Gently massage the oil until it “moisturizes” all of the flour.
Place in Nu Wave Air Fryer, set temperature to 370 degrees for 16 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
Cooked all the way through! Chicken is juicy, flavorful, and crispy on the outside.
I purchased my Nu Wave Air Fryer from Macy’s online.. ON SALE!
