Recipe for “Chef Jojo’s Southwest Turkey Burger with Baked Sweet Potato Fries and Chipotle Ketchup”
(Healthy alternative to Cheeseburger and French Fries)

(Serving size- 4)

Ingredients –
1 1/3 lbs pack of ground turkey meat- average size of one pack
I/2 each red and green bell pepper (small diced)
1 egg
1/2 sweet onion (small dice)
2 cloves of fresh garlic (minced or grated)
1 Tbsp-  Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tbsp- Montreal Steak Seasoning  (by McCormick)
1 Tsp- Smoked Paprika
2 Tbsp- Fresh Thyme (chopped fine)
2 Tbsp- Fresh Cilantro or Italian Parsley (chopped fine)
1 Tsp- Ground Cumin
2 tblsp Olive oil
1 Tsp Chipotle Chillies (minced)
1 Tsp Honey
3 tblsp Ketchup
1 fresh lime
1 tomato (4-5 slices)
Fresh Romaine Lettuce (chopped)
4 Slices Pepper jack cheese
4 whole wheat hamburger buns (lightly toasted in oven)
4-5 Sweet Potatoes  (cut either large or thin depending on personal preference)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut sweet potatoes to desired liking. Some like a thin cut while others like a thicker steak fries style cut. Mix with olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Place fries on flat cooking tray and bake in oven for 15 minutes, turn over with tongs or spatchula and cook for 5 more minutes. And more salt and pepper if needed after completion.

In a large mixing bowl combine turkey meat with fresh cracked egg, peppers, onions, garlic, cumin, paprika, thyme, montreal steak seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley or cilantro. Form enough patties needed and place in non stick skillet (medium heat) coated with olive oil. Cook for 5-6 minutes on each side and add cheese for the last 2 minutes of cooking. Place patties on toasted bun with lettuce and tomato.

Mix minced chipotle peppers with ketchup, honey, and fresh lime squeeze. Whisk until you have a nice consistency.

Enjoy 🙂
